About

Drawing for Wellbeing

This is the project blog for a UW L+T project looking at the mental health and wellbeing benefits of drawing in natural settings.

We are developing teaching materials/propositions for using with students that centre on drawing as a means to connect with nature,  the idea is to get people away from screens.

Participants are drawn from the SoA staff team, and bring different perspectives on the idea of ‘drawing’ – opening up a conversation about this using this shared blog where we document processes and approaches to documenting spending time outside.

It’s not meant to be about being able to identify things or ‘learn’ about the landscape, more about focusing on the quality of attention when spending time drawing in the natural world, and how this helps slow down and improve wellbeing.
